Issachar Community Statement of Faith
We believe - God created all things whether in heaven or on earth or below the earth through His Son Yeshua, the Messiah. (Genesis 1:1; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:15-17)
We believe - the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, are the infallible Word of God and were inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. The Bible is our standard for faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
We believe - Yeshua of Nazareth was conceived by the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), was born in the flesh as a man (fully God and fully human) and was crucified for peoples sin, though He knew no sin. Yeshua was resurrected on the third day according to the Scriptures and He is now seated at the right hand of the Father. (Luke 1:35; Philippians 2:6-8; 1 Corinthians 15:3-5; Matthew 26:64; Acts 2:33)
We believe - it is Yeshuas blood that makes atonement for us. (Leviticus 17:11; Hebrews 8:1-2; 9:22-26) He is our High Priest and mediator to God.
We believe - that whoever confesses Yeshua as the Son of God and Savior and repents of their sins shall be saved. After personal salvation, believers are commanded to be baptized (immersion in water) as an outward sign of the inward work of salvation. (Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:16 & Acts 2:38)
We believe - that because of the redemptive work of the Messiah, Jew and Gentile are no longer separate but rather one new man by grace through faith in Yeshua. (Ephesians 2:11-22)
We believe - that our Lord and Savior is returning soon to gather together His children (the elect of God) and bring the world into final judgment. (Matthew 26:62-64; 1 Corinthians 15:50-53; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17; Acts 10:42)
We believe - that the true followers of Messiah will be sealed with the indwelling Holy Spirit and will be led by the same Spirit. (John 14:16-18; Ephesians 4:30; Romans 8:14) It is the Holy Spirit that testifies that Yeshua is the Son of God, it is the Spirit who convicts the world of sin, it is the Spirit who is a Witness, an Intercessor, a Teacher, and a Helper. A true believer has a very intimate relationship with the Spirit of God and will produce the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) for this is what was promised through the Prophets, Jeremiah and Ezekiel. If the Lord anoints us with the Holy Spirit, we have then become partakers of the promised New Covenant. (Jeremiah 31:31-34) Yeshua expects us to live our lives in the power of His Spirit for both fruit/character (Galatians 5:22-25) and supernatural abilities (I Corinthians 12-14, Romans 12, Ephesians 4).
We believe - that if you love God you will keep His commandments. (Matthew 5:17-19; John 14:15,24) And these are the commandments summed up, that we love the Lord our God with all our heart, our soul, and strength and that we love one another as Yeshua has loved us. (Matthew 22:35-40)
We believe - that the Jewish people remain Gods Chosen People, chosen to bring forth the Messiah to the world and to fulfill their God-given mission to be a Light unto the Nations. We affirm Israels right to exist as a nation on their Covenant Land as God has promised. (Genesis 13:14-15) We believe that God will fulfill all His covenants and promises since He cannot lie. (Numbers 23:19)
